Banned Books: Not a Bais Yaakov Thing

Did your school ever ban any books? Asking for a friend.

We had a few white lists, but I can’t recall ever seeing or hearing about books we Must Not Ever Read.

I think the issue is that it would require acknowledging these books existed in our lives, and also making a list of books we might then try to read. Seems counter-productive.

We had a whole section of books in our school library that only teachers where allowed to read. I should probably mention that these were jewish books. Often jewish novels.

    1. I just saw “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” Part of the plot revolves around a fanatical religious anti-witch group. I wonder if Rowling put that in as a dig against all the people who banned her Harry Potter books because they have “black magic.”
